New Songs Added - 4/23/07

Among the American Idol alumni I have added album tracks such as Diana DeGarmo's "All I Never Wanted" from her album, "Blue Skies" and George Huff's "Only Love" from his album, "Miracles."

I discovered that Sarah Mather, who was in the top 24 from season 4, has an EP available from iTunes and I chose to feature her song, "Another Day" this week:
Born in Montreal to a musical family Sarah started singing at a young age. At 5 years old she sang in different choral groups and musical productions.

Moving to Charlotte at 10 she began to take on her love for music and joined the Charlotte Children’s Choir, and immersed her self in several other ensembles and musical theater. Her influences range form Led Zeppelin, to Allison Krauss. She listened to everything being the baby girl to two brothers.

When she was 14 she started singing in bands. She continued performing with a local band “Moe Black” for 5 years and was able to tour and play with great musicians. Wanting to further her career, she auditioned for American Idol in August 2004 and made it to the top 12 girls. She found it to be a life changing experience.

A day after her departure form the show she moved to New York City to pursue her dreams in music, she has just released her EP “Another Day” on iTunes, and is currently finishing her debut album that she is co writing with Grammy Nominated producer Ernie Lake.

Check out her Rock/Country fusion, and look for the album coming out this summer.
Jared Michael Yates was also a top 24 contestant from season 4 of American Idol. He has released his own album titled, "all that I am..." You can go here to listen to the songs and see the videos.

An excerpt from his bio:
Since appearing on American Idol, Jared Michael Yates has begun recording some of his own, original music and is currently being shopped to major record labels as a Pop/Rock/R&B singer. Jared describes his music as "pop with an Rock and Hip Hop influence." He's currently working with Grammy-nominated producer Jeff Anderson and Sound Logic Studios in Lafayette, Indiana, to record his original music.

Jared began writing songs as a way to broaden his talent and express himself musically. "The original music I've been writing and recording is a direct reflection of my personal life, relationships and experiences. Some of the songs are about my experience with the industry and my realization of what Life’s journey is about and where it’s leading me. A lot of people, especially teenagers, will be able to relate to these songs since I am in their age range. I think a lot of teens these days don’t have many outlets to focus their expressions. Hopefully my songs will help a lot of people and show them that they are not alone.”
"Philosophia" by The Guggenheim Grotto was a free download from iTunes and I liked it so much I decided to add it as well as a current song by Corinne Bailey Rae called "Put Your Records On". "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne was a song chosen a couple of times by American Idol contestants so I thought I would add it to the playlist this week also.

The other songs added this week are "Mandolin Moon" by Sister Hazel, "Nothing At All" by Kasey Chambers, "Feel Like Home" by John Paul, and "Satellite" by Guster.
