New Songs Added - 6/18/07

Sorry that I didn't get this blog up yesterday. It has been a busy week.

Mostly this week I switched off some songs with artists I have already been playing. On the American Idol front we have "Any Which Way" by Kimberley Locke, "Heaven Knows" by Taylor Hicks, "Behind These Hazel Eyes" by Kelly Clarkson, and "The Shadow Of Your Smile" by John Stevens. A new addition is "Sway" by this past season's favorite, Melinda Doolittle.

I decided to go with the really cool version of "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Michael Buble. "Autumn Leaves" by Eva Cassidy is quite lovely and I just love "Storms in Africa" by Enya. I also went with "Piano Fantasy" by William Joseph, "A Part of Me" by Kurt Nilsen, "Your Eyes Open" by Keane, "Absent Friends" by No Fixed Abode, and that great oldie, "Wrapped Around Your Finger" by The Police.

Lauren Wood is a new artist that I have added to the lineup with her song "Contradictions". Here is her bio:
LAUREN WOOD is a world-renowned songwriter, recording artist, musician, producer and voice-over artist. She is best known for her smash hit song, “FALLEN” from the award-winning movie/ soundtrack, “PRETTY WOMAN", which sold over 17 million copies, and from her top 3 hit duet with MICHAEL McDONALD, “PLEASE DON’T LEAVE,” released on one of her four albums for WARNER BROTHER’S RECORDS. She has also written Top 20 hits for Gladys Knight and Phillip Bailey, as well as songs for Cher, Dusty Springfield, Johnny Mathis, Sammy (Van Halen) Hagar, Animotion, Larry Coryell, Warren Hill, Leo Sayer, Billy Preston, Nicolette Larson, Tiffany, Albert Hammond, Presuntos Implicados and many others. Rita Coolidge performed Lauren’s song, “Echo My Heart” for “Farm Aid.” Lauren’s songs have appeared in numerous films and television shows including, “Police Academy,” “Days of Our Lives,” and “That’s Life.”

In addition to her original recordings, Lauren’s distinctive voice can be heard singing lead on the NBC hit series theme song, “JUST SHOOT ME,” as well as many national commercials including, “NIKE,” “BUDWEISER,” and “NINTENDO.” She has also appeared as a background vocalist for Devo, The Doobie Brothers, Kim Carnes, and Frank Zappa, and on commercials for “Oldsmobile,” “7-up” and “Cadillac.” She records voice-over for animation and music for film and TV including, “The Rugrats,” “Jackie Chan,” Disney’s, “The Tigger Movie,” and Disney’s “Little Mermaid-II,” and she has appeared on a number of TV shows including, ”Rosanne’s Talk Show,” “Animal Planet” and “Entertainment Tonight.”

Lauren produced one independent CD in 1999 entitled, “LAUREN WOOD,” and has just released her second Independent CD, “LOVE, DEATH and CUSTOMER SERVICE,” on her own label, Bad Art Records. Her songs feature artists and musicians including Stephen Bishop, Bill Payne (Little Feat), Melissa Manchester and Vicki Randle (Tonight Show). Lauren recently performed at the JOHN ANSON FORD THEATRE in Hollywood and made a guest appearance with Ambrosia and Kenny Rankin in the “Have a Heart” annual fundraising concert.
Happy listening!
