New Radio Adds: 11/6/08

I've added new songs by Lifehouse, David Cook, Jon McLaughlin and Eli Mattson to the playlist.

Eli Mattson was the runner-up on the third season of America's Got Talent. The song I have added is his independent recording of "All I'll Be." There is a rumor that he has been signed to a recording contract. I hope it's true!
Eli Mattson (born November 4, 1981) is an American pianist and singer. [...] He beat out over 200,000 contestants. Many people were amazed by him when he performed at the audition by singing Marc Cohn's 1991 hit, "Walking in Memphis".

Mattson was born in Duluth, Minnesota. He has been playing piano since he was five years old and has been performing, including his own compositions, since the age of fourteen.

When Eli was only 19, he was awarded a prestigious grant from the Peninsula Arts Association in Wisconsin to help further his music career.

After touring with a country band, he lived in Chicago for three years before his national debut on America's Got Talent.
He has been playing at local venues for the past several years and has garnered a large and varied fanbase. He calls Door County, Wisconsin home.

Eli's influences include Elton John, Billy Joel, Bruce Hornsby, Jimmy Newquist, Dave Matthews Band, and many other amazing musicians. -- Wikipedia

David Cook won the last season of American Idol and I have added the first single, "Light On", from his upcoming album.
Millions of people around the country fell in love with rock belter David Cook while watching him make other people’s songs his own week after week on the seventh season of American Idol. Cook won the competition handily thanks to viewers connecting with his rich, unfettered voice and passionately intense performances, not to mention his down-to-earth Midwestern charm. Now, with the release of his self-titled major-label debut, this gifted 25-year-old is eager to show those fans what he can do when he’s in the driver’s seat.

“I went on Idol with a five-card hand and showed three of my cards,” Cook says. “Now it’s time to put down the other two. There’s a lot I haven’t shown the world, just as far as who I am and what I’m about. I have several layers as an artist and those layers are out there on this record. I don’t see myself ever writing an autobiography; I’m just going to let the music speak for itself.”

And it does — loud and clear. David Cook is a statement-making album, filled with bold, keenly felt songs that showcase Cook’s powerful vocal chops and considerable songwriting talent, as well as the versatility that made him a star on Idol. [...]” –excerpt from official biography

And I have also added Jon McLaughlin's new single, "Beating My Heart".
Jon describes himself as a "child of the '80s" in talking about the musical direction of OK NOW, with the very first single "Beating My Heart" the perfect example, an introspective, existential tune about nothing less than the meaning of life, with an elaborate pop-rock production that evokes Coldplay, thanks to soaring synths and a crackling backbeat.

With producer Fields playing bass, drums, slide guitar and a variety of other instruments, McLaughlin also enlisted the talents of ace players such as guitarists Tim Pierce and David Ryan Harris, as well as drummer Dorian Crozier in the studio. –excerpt from official biography
